Life and Ministry in Costa Rica

Since early January, our family has been living in Costa Rica, where we are in a season of intensive spiritual, cultural, linguistic, missiological, and theological formation. This training season will continue through August, after which we will transition to Mexico City to begin the next phase of our assignment.

Costa Rica has been a gift. Our days are full of Spanish immersion, chapel services, Bible studies, and classes that are shaping how we think about culture, transitions, adaptability, missions and church planting. We are translating, learning, asking lots of questions, and growing in ways we did not even know we needed.

As a family, we are finding healthy rhythms of life here that intentionally create space for ministry and relationship-building. Weekly trips to the produce market, piano lessons, and time exploring parks and the city help ground our family in this season. Friday night soccer and pickleball matches have become simple but meaningful ways to build friendships with colleagues and the young people they are walking with and discipling. The girls are doing well overall, learning to navigate a new environment, a new language, and a new pace of life with a lot of grace, and growing alongside us as they see faith lived out in everyday moments.

Most of all, we are grateful. Grateful for the space to learn deeply, grateful for the people God has placed around us, and grateful for your partnership that makes this season possible. We are continually reminded that we are not doing this alone.

As you pray for us, we would love to invite you to join us in praying for:

  • Continued provision and wisdom as we complete training and prepare for our transition to Mexico City

  • Language growth and cultural understanding for our entire family

  • Spiritual covering, unity, and discernment as we move toward church planting

  • God’s favor in relationships with local leaders and future church planters

Thank you for standing with us, believing with us, and investing in what God is doing now and what is coming next. We are excited about the road ahead and look forward to continuing to share updates with you along the way.

¡Pura Vida!
