September 2026 Ministry Update
The past several weeks have been full of transition, celebration, and new opportunities for our family. We finished our time of training in Costa Rica, moved to Mexico City, celebrated Naomi’s birthday, and made a quick trip back to Texas for my ordination. Now that we are settling into life in Mexico City, we are excited about the ministry opportunities God is opening before us. As you read through this update, we also ask you to keep an eye out for an important prayer request at the end.
Graduation in Costa Rica
In early August, we graduated from the Center of Cultural Investigations and Linguistic Studies (CINCEL) in San José, Costa Rica. We are so thankful for the two trimesters we spent learning about culture, language, ministry, and what it means to serve cross-culturally. CINCEL means “chisel,” and this season truly felt like a time of formation as God prepared us for the ministry ahead. Our girls also graduated from their Spanish classes, and we could not be more proud of how much Malia, Olivia, and Naomi have grown in their ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish. We are incredibly thankful for the directors, teachers, staff, and friends who made this season so meaningful.
We’re in Mexico!
On August 17th, we officially moved to Mexico City! We hit the ground running, meeting with ministry partners both in the city and in surrounding areas. One of our first trips took us about four hours outside the city to a small indigenous community where God is doing some incredible things. We look forward to sharing more of that story in the months ahead as we continue visiting and building relationships there.
A Special Trip to Texas
In early September, we made a quick trip back to Texas for my ordination service. It was a tremendous honor and privilege to be ordained as a minister and to continue following God’s call into ministry. I am also incredibly grateful for the people who have poured into my life and ministry along the way, especially Kayla, my parents, and our pastors. We are also thankful to the North Texas District for making this special ceremony possible and for their support throughout this journey. While in Texas, I had the opportunity to preach at the Northplace staff chapel, and Kayla and I both shared an update on our ministry during their Spanish service.
New Opportunities in Mexico City
We are excited to now be in Mexico City full time and to see what God has ahead. Over the next couple months, we will be visiting a different church each week, building relationships and learning how we can best serve alongside the church in Mexico City and beyond. We are excited about what God is opening up and are trusting Him to lead us one step at a time.
Thank you for continuing to pray for our family as we begin this new season in Mexico City. We are continually reminded that we could not do this without you, and we are thankful to have you walking with us as we follow God’s call.
