July 2026 Ministry Update
Thank you for continuing to pray for us during our time of preparation in Costa Rica. Each month, we are reminded that God is faithfully shaping our family for the work ahead in Mexico City. Here are a few highlights from the last couple of months.
Church Planting Catalyst (June 1–2)
At the beginning of June, we had an opportunity to learn from missionaries and church planters serving throughout Latin America. One of our mentors challenged us to continually align ourselves with what God is already doing rather than asking Him to bless our own plans.
We were reminded that church planting is not a one-time act, but a lifelong commitment of sowing, trusting, and faithfully following the Lord. As John 12:24 says: “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
Chapel Message: "Remember What the Lord Has Done" (June 10)
Danny had the privilege of preaching in Spanish Chapel from Psalm 126. The message centered around remembering God's faithfulness in the past, trusting Him in the present, and believing Him for the future. Psalm 126 paints the picture of dry riverbeds in the Negev suddenly overflowing after the rains come. In the same way, God can transform the dry places in our lives in an instant. The same God who delivered us before can do it again.
Celebrating Independence Day (July 4)
On the Fourth of July, we hosted an outreach in our neighborhood here in Costa Rica. It was an opportunity to spend time with our neighbors, build relationships, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence together. We had a great time getting to know people whom we would normally only greet in passing on the street. We are praying that the seeds of relationship we planted will sprout in their lives in due time.
Preaching at The Way Church in Puerto Viejo (July 12)
The weekend of July 12, our family traveled to Puerto Viejo on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. While there, Danny preached at The Way Church, an international church plant serving the local and expatriate community.
It was encouraging to see how God is working through missionaries in different contexts. We were excited to learn firsthand from other missionaries who are planting churches and to gain insight that will help us as we prepare to serve in Mexico City.
Kayla's Spanish Chapel Sermon (July 22)
On July 22, Kayla reached a major milestone by preaching a full sermon in Spanish Chapel. Preaching from the book of Jonah, she encouraged our community to fully trust God with every area of our lives. Her message explored trusting God's plan, His mercy, and His justice, while reminding us that God's grace often extends further than our own. Watching her faithfully proclaim God's Word in her second language was a powerful reminder that God can do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. We are incredibly proud of her!
Celebrating Costa Rican Culture (July 24)
This month, we also had the opportunity to celebrate the Annexation of Guanacaste to Costa Rica. Our whole family participated in cultural activities and even shared traditional "bombas" (short, humorous folk verses). We've attached a video so you can enjoy a glimpse of the celebration with us! Thank you for praying for our family and for partnering with us through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. We are continually reminded that we could not do this without you.
