A New Season of Ministry in Mexico

October 2026 Ministry Update

What a busy few weeks it has been! Since our last update, we have had opportunities to preach at churches, serve fellow missionaries, travel to other communities, and continue building relationships here in Mexico City. We are grateful for every opportunity and excited to see how God is leading us in this new season.

Ministry Highlights

Over the past several weeks, we have had the opportunity to connect with churches and ministry partners throughout the region.

  • Sept. 20: Danny preached at Comunidad Alfa y Omega, Mexico City.

  • Sept. 23–27: We hosted the Wajajay missionaries while they were in Mexico City for meetings with the national church.

  • Sept. 27: We visited Centro Familiar Cristiano Betel in Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México with Aldo and Jennifer Wajajay. Danny had the opportunity to share the Word of God.

  • Sept. 30–Oct. 2: We helped another fellow missionary family move.

  • Oct. 4: Danny preached at Centro Familiar Cristiano Tezontle.

  • Oct. 10: We visited ministry partners in Hidalgo (more on that later) to celebrate their church’s third anniversary. The round trip took about eight hours.

  • Oct. 11: Our family visited Valle Mazahua, about two hours away from where we live. Danny preached twice, Kayla preached once, and Lizette Salazar, another missionary on our team who was traveling with us, preached at a nearby church as well.

  • Oct. 18: We made a three-hour trip to visit Iglesia Filadelfia in Querétaro. It was so great to see familiar faces and share God’s Word with a church where Danny’s grandpa had preached in the past.

  • Oct. 25: Danny preached at Iglesia Sinai for its 91st anniversary. This was especially meaningful because it was the church he attended as a teenager. Returning years later to preach for their anniversary felt like a full-circle moment!

A Growing Church in Hidalgo

One ministry we are currently helping is located in a rural Indigenous community in the state of Hidalgo, about four hours from Mexico City. Our mentor missionaries have been helping disciple believers and develop the church there, and the story of how it began is incredible.

A man from the community moved to the United States, came to know Jesus, and eventually sent money back home to help build a church in his community. Once the building was completed, he began asking if someone could come and help lead his family and the community to Christ and disciple them. This eventually connected the community with our missionary team. Our mentor missionaries, Peter and Delia Breit, traveled there and began sharing the gospel. More than 30 people from the community accepted Jesus as their Savior in a single day and began meeting in the building.

Today, a local pastor has stepped into that role and is faithfully serving the church and community. Just recently, 15 people gave their lives to Christ!

One of the biggest challenges he faces is transportation. Homes and communities are spread across this rural area, and public transportation is extremely limited. Without a vehicle, it is difficult for the pastor and his family to visit new believers in their homes, disciple them personally, and continue reaching other families throughout the area. This as an opportunity to equip a local pastor who knows his community and is faithfully discipling the people God is bringing to him. We don't want transportation to become a barrier to discipling new believers and reaching more families.

Laying the Groundwork in Mexico City

Beyond these ministry opportunities, much of our time has been spent meeting people, building friendships, and praying about where to begin a future church plant.

Starting from scratch means we do not yet have established relationships or existing circles of friends in our community. Building genuine friendships takes time, and developing the trust that creates opportunities to share the gospel requires patience and intentionality.

We know church planting is about more than finding a location or starting weekly services. It begins with people. It’s all about relationships, and we are looking for opportunities to make disciples. We are taking these first steps and trusting God to guide us.

Prayer Requests:

As exciting as these first months have been, we are learning that starting a new ministry takes patience, wisdom, and a willingness to follow God's leading one step at a time. Would you pray with us for the following?

  • Direction for a church plant: We sense God drawing our attention to certain sectors of Mexico City, but we do not yet have clarity about where to begin. Pray that He would direct our steps and help us recognize where He is already working.

  • A place to begin gathering: We are looking to start a Bible study in our home or finding another suitable location nearby. Pray for wisdom about when to begin, where to meet, and whom to invite.

  • New friendships and gospel opportunities: Pray that God would open doors for genuine friendships, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to share the gospel with people in our community.

  • The pastor in Hidalgo: Pray for the church plant and for provision of a vehicle for this ministry.

  • Our family: Pray for continued adjustment to life in Mexico City, strength through a busy season, and wisdom as we balance family life with the opportunities and responsibilities of ministry.

Thank you for continuing to pray for us, encourage us, and partner with us in this work. We are excited about what God is doing, even as we navigate the uncertainties that come with beginning something new. We cannot do this alone, and we are so grateful to have you walking alongside our family.
